Slide 2 Menu This activity is divided into five main categories. Click on each sticky note in order to go to the activity which corresponds to the topic of choice. Slide 3 Greetings and Introductions Elicit phrases to complete the speech bubbles. Click to reveal answers. Drill phrases. Model the following exchange with a few sts: T: Hello. St: Hello. T: My name’s ... .What’s your name? St: .... T: Nice to meet you. St: Nice to meet you too.

Slide 4 Seating Mixer Arrange seats in a semi-circle. Explain to sts that, when you say “Freeze!”, they are to sit in the alphabetical order of their first names. Show them which end of the semi-circle starts with “A” and which ends with “Z”. Tell sts to stand up, mingle and greet each other using the expressions in slide 3. Click on link to play some background music. Give them three minutes to complete the task. Set a timer and say “Freeze!” at the end of the time limit. At the end, check if sts are seated in alphabetical order while testing sts’ memories by asking them their classmates’ names. Click on HOME icon to go back to Menu page. Slide 5 Classroom Survival Language Click to show phrases one by one. Use gestures/facial expressions to get meaning across. Use Portuguese if necessary. Conduct choral and individual repetition of each phrase.

Ask Are these words similar to Portuguese? (Yes.) What about the pronunciation? Drill pronunciation. Ask What other international words do you know? and elicit a few contributions. Slide 8 Airport or Technology? Ask Do you know any words in English related to airport or technology? Encourage sts to remember words and expressions they have seen at the airport, on computers or on mobiles. Accept all reasonable contributions and help with pronunciation.

Slide 9 Post / Departure / First-class… Tell sts they will see a list of international words. They have to decide if they refer to airport or technology (refer to photos). Click to reveal answers (words related to technology change to red). Slide 10 Post / Departure / First-class… Tell sts they will watch a commercial of an airline company and a video about technology. Tell sts to make note of which international words they see or hear in the videos. Click on the icons to play the videos. Get sts into pairs to check answers. Check as a class.

Slide 11 Guess the film Get sts into two teams. Explain that they will listen to a famous movie quote and have to guess the film. Click on each number to listen to the quotes.
