With me are __________ ______________, my co-facilitators. To start the session this afternoon, let me share with you this quotation by William Garr about the most important profession in the world.

Explain the framework, structures and features of the TEDP-NCBTS. Explain the significance/ importance of TEDP-NCBTS and its target users. Identify the uses of NCBTS and how they can help teachers improve teaching. Appreciate the value of the NCBTS. We will be joining in this hall for four hours to achieve the following objectives:

Abstraction The National Competency Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS) is one of the key elements of the TEDP (Teacher Education Development Program). Process the outputs of the 5 groups vis-à-vis with abstraction thru PWP presentation, one question at a time. Start with Station 2 – The What of NCBTS – Read first the answers of the participants, then refer to specialists’ view. Ask this questions: What is NCBTS?; What does competency-based standard mean? These are standards for characterizing good teaching which are defined in terms of what the teacher is competent to do. Unified means integrated, fused or combined.

What is a standard? NORM CRITERION BENCHMARK YARDSTICK MODEL MEASURE PARADIGM TOUCHSTONE

A unified framework for teacher development An integrated theoretical framework that defines the different dimensions of effective teaching Effective teaching means being able to help all types of students learn the different learning goals in the curriculum. NCBTS as an integrated theoretical framework means that it does not adhere to a single educational theory but adopts the assumptions of different educational theories. It defines different dimensions of effective teaching specifically 7 domains. Effective teaching means being able to help not only the fast learners but variety and all types of learners, helping them attain the learning goals in the curriculum.

What is NCBTS? It is based on the core values of Filipino teachers and on effective teaching and learning. It is based on the seven domains, each one representing the desired features of the teaching and learning process. The framework is anchored on core values of Filipino teachers, on effective teaching and learning. The 7 domains represent the desired features of the teaching and learning processes.

What is TEDP? The Teacher Education Development Plan is the master plan to bridge the growing gap between the needs and expectations of learners and the knowledge and skill levels of both new and existing teachers

What is TEDP? Agencies working hand in hand for the good of the teaching profession are DepED, CHED, PRC, CSC and TEIs TEDP conceptualizes a teacher’s career path as a continuum that starts with the entry to a teacher education program and concludes when a teacher reaches retirement from formal service

Competency-Based Teacher Teacher Human Resource and Recognition System The Teacher Education and Development Map Retirement Preparation DepED Entry to Teacher Education CHED/TEIs/Schools DepED/CHED/TEIs Pre-Service Training (BEEd/BSEd/PGCEd) In-Service Training and Professional Development National Competency-Based Teacher Standards DepED PRC Induction Training Teacher Licensure DepED* / Civil Service Teacher Human Resource Planning, Recruitment, Selection, Deployment and Recognition System *Includes public and private schools

Anyone interested in improving teaching practices TEIs shall use it to design and implement effective pre-service teacher education curricula PRC shall refer to it to design the LET

Organizations and agencies that provide In- Service Education for Teachers (INSET) shall refer to it to develop the intervention they desire Award-giving bodies shall refer to it to define their criteria for outstanding teachers

DepED shall use the NCBTS to formulate its hiring, promotion, supervision and other policies related to the teaching profession. The NCBTS shall also be used in designing its INSET programs for teachers Most of all, Individual teachers in all public elementary and high schools shall use it for their professional development activities

The NCBTS provides a single framework that shall define what effective teaching is in all aspects of a teacher’s professional life and in all phases of teacher development This will standardize the definition of what effective teaching is.

The NCBTS is an integrated theoretical framework that defines the different dimensions of effective teaching, where effective teaching means being able to help all types of students learn the different learning goals in the curriculum. I am glad that the things that we have done today are already within yourselves. I hope that change among our teachers’ competencies will be observed. To end up the session, let me share with you this…

It provides a better guide for all teacher development programs and projects from school level up to the national level. Various stakeholders and institutions use the NCBTS in their roles to maintain quality education through effecting teaching and learning. I am glad that the things that we have done today are already within yourselves. I hope that change among our teachers’ competencies will be observed. To end up the session, let me share with you this…

Thank You..! Once again… good afternoon, have a nice day and ….
