APPLICANT TRAINING & READER TRAINING Multiple applicant trainings and reader trainings are held each semester. Before the presentations occur the grant chair must: – Create a PowerPoint – Create posters and flyers – Communicate to students across campus (Advertise) – Schedule locations – Conduct the meeting in person – Make him/herself available to all students for questions

READER TRAINING Once the reader trainings are complete: – The Chair evaluates the sign-in sheet to make sure all the information is complete – Inputs the data into a specific computer program – The readers are consciously categorized and allocated specific grant proposals by the chair Academic perspective Both applicants and readers – Constant updates and reminders – Managing more than 30 grant readers at a time – Constantly replying to s from the readers, applicants and prospective applicants – Closely monitoring the readers and the quality of work they are doing (the comment section is a crucial element)

GRANTS RESPONSIBILITIES Creating Resources – Being present in the office for students that have questions pertaining to the grants and scholarships that we offer – Maintaining the Grants page of the GPSA website – Revising and studying the GPSA Grant’s Bylaws – Always working towards making the process better/more fair – Constant work that constitutes the need for a paid position – Appeals: over 40 hours of work alone Making the Funds Available – Work closely with the President and COS to understand the funds available for the grant allocations – Providing spread sheets to student accounting – The records need to have applicant ID/UNM ID/Department/ Score and Rank/ Amount that they are seeking
