Common Area Expectations

I am Mrs. Foster. I am the principal at Lowell. This is Ms. Carnell. She is the new assistant principal. Assembly expectations- Sit quietly. Hands and feet to self. How I will get attention at assemblies- Hand up, mouths off.

 Make Your Day is a common way we make sure the school is calm so every student can focus on learning  Make Your Day is focused on one rule-

 Your teacher is focusing on how to help you Make Your Day in your classroom  I will help you know how to Make Your Day when in the common areas

◦ Bus ◦ Exiting and entering the school (morning and afternoon) ◦ Hallways ◦ Restrooms ◦ Cafeteria ◦ Playground

 Hands on your lap  Feet on the floor  Sit facing forward in your seat  Backpacks in front of your feet  No hitting, screaming, name calling  No throwing or passing or whipping anything  No changing seats or standing up  No reaching across the aisle

 Exit the school bus or car and walk directly to breakfast or covered area.  Keep hands, feet, and objects to self and use a quiet voice.  Use the sidewalk and walkways at all times.  Please walk

 You need to be in single file line behind your number  Body to yourself  Stay in line  Quiet voices  No running  Listen to adult supervisors- stand or sit when asked  If you eat breakfast at school, get breakfast before lining up

Look for these vests if you need help when coming or leaving school. Helpful adults wear these vests. Also, patrol students wear these vests. They can help you.

Arrive and sit quietly. Inside voices.

When you are in the “Quiet Zone” there is no talking, no playing. Crystal needs to hear student numbers so please use an inside voice.

Please know your lunch choice and student number. Practice your lunch number! Do not leave the lunch line until Crystal tells you it’s okay.

Please use the right containers for garbage. Garbage goes in the big garbage cans, juice and milk go in the bucket, silverware goes in the gray container and food goes in the tall green containers.

When seated at the tables to eat you are expected to use an inside voice. Please stay in your seat. Please don’t move around to be with your friends. Raise your hand to let an adult know when you are done with lunch. Please throw away your garbage, put your tray away. Wait until your table is dismissed to go outside.

When you are dismissed you need to walk to the door to go outside. Please DO NOT RUN!

Meet your playground teachers Mrs. Carmen Mrs. Shaver Mrs. Gordon

Playground Expectations 1. Stay in OPEN AREA where you can be seen. You will choose a STEP 1 if you play behind the dumpster, behind the storage container or hide behind undercover walls. 2. Be kind to others. It’s important to be a good friend on the field! 3. You can earn a Step 1 for shoving, tripping or not sharing equipment. 4. Don’t throw rocks or bark. This is not safe. 5. You can earn a Step 1 for not playing safely - or a STEP 4 for harming another student.

6. Share ALL equipment & RETURN it to the storage bin for the next student to use. 7. Line up undercover where your class meets in the morning with THE FIRST WHISTLE. 8. If you think you have more recess time – look at the recess staff to see how many fingers they’re showing. They’ll show which class is lining up right now. 9. If you have a concern with something or someone on the field – tell an adult.
