INTERNET SAFTEY AND CYBER BULLYING By your internet protection go to guys… Lukas Richters and Raymond Weaver

Hello We are not here to tell you to stay off of Social Media or to make sure you know who you are friending, or anything like that. I know you have all been through that and have been told that many times. We are simply here to educate you and to make sure you stay safe.

Internet Safety Did you know that there are 747,408 and counting registered sex offenders in the US alone? Did you know that the stranger that you are talking to on your Social Media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) could be a sex offender? Wouldn’t something like that scare you? Sex offenders are not the only problems with Social Media. There are people out there who want to steal your information, like where you live, what you do, how old you are, or your credit card information. Even if you think you have everything protected and your privacy settings are really good, if someone really wanted to they could get into your profile using a “backdoor” as they say and get all of this information. here are a few tips to keep you safe online

Tips 1 Only friend people you know. It is not a competition to see who can have the most friends If you wouldn’t trust someone in real life don’t trust them on Social Media Don’t talk to people you don’t know Every couple days look at your Social Media. If you can’t give 5 solid pieces of information about that person then you should delete them form your friends list. Do not give your information to anyone. Even if it is your most trusted friend, they can give it out to anyone if they want to. Have you ever gone on websites and seen a pop-up that says “You just won a free iPad!” Those things want to take your information and make you spend money at stores. And if you think I’ve just lost you a free iPad, you know if you have ever clicked on those how many of you actually got the iPad that was promised you?

Cyber Bullying In the world we live in today technology is everywhere. We have social media accounts, E- mail, texting, chat rooms, IMing, and many other ways of communication. But what if you were abusing those privileges and using technology to make someone feel bad? How would you feel if you made that person kill or hurt themselves because you needed to feel powerful making other people feel bad? Nearly 43% of kids have had this feeling before. 1 in 4 kids have felt it happen more than once.

Stop-Think-Connect This is what I want everyone to do before they send anything to anyone. Stop and make sure that what you are sending will not hurt someone else or make them feel bad. Think is this worth it? Do I really need to tell people this? Connect if you stopped to think and it actually needs to be sent. Remember that a word is powerful. It can make you happy or sad. It can make you exited, or it can bring you down. Have you ever heard the term “all bark and no bite?” Someone can say “oh, I’m going to beat him up the next time I see him,” but when you put them in front of the person they won’t have the guts to say it too their face.
