10 fact cards  Andrew Johnson was a great man in life. He always said,’’ One man’s misfortune is my misfortune’’. He was born and raised in a bad section of North Carolina. When he was a boy he never went to school. He owned slaves in his life,but never liked the plantations that had slaves. He later ran for president and represented Tennessee. He had become vice president beside Lincoln. He became president after Lincoln was assassinated. He was vice president for six weeks.He was also a democrat. He was the first president to be impeached. He supported the Union for the Civil war.

Andrew Johnson’s family  Andrew Johnson had a great family. He had a wife and 5 children. His wife’s name was Eliza. She was the person that provided him with an education. They had 3 boys and 2 girls. There names were Martha, Charles, Mary, Robert, Andrew Jr. Martha was selfish when her father was president. She got married and had 2 children. Charles became a pharmacist. He served for the Union army. Robert died when a horse fell on him. Robert never got married. He was a lawyer and a state legislator. He served in the war. He was his father’s privet secretary. Andrew was the youngest by 18 years. He started a news paper, and he was the only son to marry. He died when he was 26. Mary’s husband died in the war. She later came back and lived with her family in the White House. Johnson had a great family and he loved them.

Andrew’s midlife & presidency  Andrew Johnson many different political positions in his 46 years of service. He started out as an Alderman in Greenville, then finished as an U.S. senator. He went from an Alderman to a mayor to a Representative for Tennessee state legislature. He went back to being a mayor then a representative again for Tennessee. He served 13 years in U.S. congress. He became a governor for Tennessee, then became a U.S. senator. He also decided to be a military governor of Tennessee. He stepped up another level and became vice president. He became president after 6 weeks. He took place of Lincoln. He was the first one to be impeached. He became a U.S. senator.

Andrew’s childhood & laterlife  Andrew Johnson was born in 1808 and died in He was born in North Carolina in a poor section. He never went to school. At the age of 18 he moved to the East Tennessee mountains in In 1830 he bought a house in Greenville. After he was president he became a U.S. senator. He died after six months when he became a U.S. senator. It was 1875 July 31 at Carter’s station, TN when he died. He wished he could see his family 1 more time.
