2 Early Years Grew up in the slaved state Kentucky Lived with his sister, Sarah, dad, Thomas, and mother, Nancy Barely went to school but taught himself to read Only book he had to read was the bible Mother died after they moved to Illinois Dad got remarried

3 Middle Years Abe became a lawyer, many of his friends gave him law books Married to Mary Todd He went in the race to be the senator of Illinois Abraham lost the vote but he did not give up Abe went to go for president This time Abe won When the slave states found he was going to try to stop slavery some started to make a new country called the Confederate States, North did not want this so it started the Civil War

4 Why this Person was Famous He was elected the 16 th president of the United States in 1860 He saved all slave when the Union won the Civil War Abe wrote the Gettysburg Address He was one of the giants in the Great Debate Finally he made the United States united once again

5 Why I chose this Person I main chose this person because he new that telling people what you want them to do is wrong. Also many people from his town Illinois said he helped everybody and was very patriotic. He was the 16 th president and one of the best. Finally, Abraham Lincoln never gave up.

6 Timeline 1809 born in Haden Kentucky 1820 Kansas Nebraska territory was slave free about 1830 said goodbye to his family and started his own life 1854 Abraham went back into politics when found out that Kansas Nebraska territory to vote to see if there was slavery allowed there 1858 ran for senator against Stephen Douglas but lost in votes 1860 went in the presidential campaign with Stephen Douglas against him again but this time Abe won 1861 moved to the White House with his three children and wife 1863 presented the Gettysburg Address to a crowd of people in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 1865 April 15 died after shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth
