1 Presidential Text Boxes On December 5, 1782, in a tavern. In Kinderhook, New York, Abraham, farmer and tavern owner, and Maria Van Buren, brought home their third out Six child, a baby boy. When that baby boy was older, he would eavesdrop on travelers, which would lead him to his political career. In 1803, Martin Van Buren became a lawyer, Avery good lawyer, because he wanted to be included in political subjects, in New York. He did very Well being a lawyer. When Van Buren was fourteen, he attended and in 1796 graduated from his village academy. He got a job, with his father's help, in a local law Office, doing chores, to at least be somewhat included in law; which caused an Buren to follow his hero, Thomas Jefferson, into law. Van Buren married Hannah Hoes, in 1807, they lived in Hudson, New York, with their four boys, Abraham, John, Martin, and Smith Thompson. A few Years later, Hannah died and Martin never remarried. 2 Presidential Text Boxes Andrew Jackson, Old Hickory, was7th president, elected on March 4 th 1829, and his vice president was, John C. Calhoun. Before he was attacked Near Alexandra and died, Jackson was awarded the Thanks of Congress. Van Buren, brought his with him to the capitol, his oldest son, Abraham, was his head secretary and husband of the first lady. In 1838, Abraham Van Buren married Angelica Singleton. Dolly Madison served as the first lady then Angelica. Van Buren`s vice president was Richard M. Johnson. The panic of 1837 took away bank privileges and Van Buren set up a independent treasury, to manage government money. For the election of 1837, the democratic runner, Martin Van Buren, ran against Whigs, winning, having more votes than his three competitors Combined, because of the support of many clubs, and campaigns. After winning, he traveled to the capitol. During the Panic of 1837, caused by Andrew Jackson's decisions, banks shut down across America. To clear up the matter, Van Buren proposed an Independent treasury for the government, forcing citizens to keep their money. 3 Presidential Text Boxes Richard M. Johnson, lived in Kentucky, and worked in the House of representatives. Before his political career, he was a Colonel, his slogan was, “Rumpsey, Dumpsey, Rumpsey, Dumpsey,Colonel Johnson Killed Tecumpson”. On March 4 th,1837, he was elected vice president for Van Buren. On march 4 th, 1841 Van Buren lost to William H. Harrison because of his epic campaigns. Martin moved into a house he named Lindawald, and There, he farmed potatoes and fished. William Henry Harrison, from Ohio, was the 9 th president, and was 68 years old, 1841 when he was nominated, dieing from pneumonia 32 Days Into his presidency. His vice president was John Tyler. Van Buren lived with his sons` families in Lindawald. Sadly on July 24, 1862, Van Buren, age 79, died of asthma.
