⋄In Bihac, Una-Sana Canton there is a heritage of nearly 40 years of higher education. ⋄ In the period in Bihac Technical College Karlovac - branch offices of Bihac was active. UNIVERSITY OF BIHAC

⋄ Technical College BIHAĆ - Mechanical Engineering Department, started working in ⋄ Technical College BIHAĆ - Textile Department, started working in UNIVERSITY OF BIHAC

⋄ College of Economics BIHAĆ - University of Banja Luka, Bihac-branch offices, began its work in ⋄ Technical College BIHAĆ - Wood Industry Department, started working in UNIVERSITY OF BIHAC

⋄ PEDAGOGICAL ACADEMY BIHAĆ – established by Decision of the Presidency of R B&H (Official Gazette no. 23/93) from October 18, 1993 within the University of Sarajevo. ⋄ PEDAGOGICAL ISLAMIC ACADEMY – Islamic Community Assembly in B&H December 23, UNIVERSITY OF BIHAC

⋄ Faculty of Mechanical Engineering BIHAC (UNSA) - started working on December 20, ⋄ University of Bihac established by the Decision of Una-Sana Canton Assembly on July 28, It included: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Islamic Academy of Pedagogy, College of Economics and Teacher Training College. ⋄ University of Bihac in 1998 had 7 members: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Biotechnical Sciences, Faculty of Pedagogy, College of Nursing Studies and the Islamic Academy of Pedagogy. UNIVERSITY OF BIHAC

⋄ University of Bihać nowadays comprises 7 organizational units, 6 faculties (Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Biotechnical Sciences, Islamic Faculty of Education, Faculty of Pedagogy and Faculty of Economics) and 1 College (College of Nursing Studies). University of Bihac started with the implementation of Bologna in academic 2006/2007. ⋄ Within 7 organizational units, there are 26 academic departments in the first cycle of study with over students. ⋄ In academic 2010/2011, UNBI started organizing the teaching process at the second cycle of study. ⋄ Postgraduate studies – former system, was organized in a form of defending master and doctoral dissertations since UNIVERSITY OF BIHAC

⋄ DOCTORAL DISSERTATION / Doctoral Studies at the University of Bihac! - Human Resources teachers employed, - 45 senior assistants, - 30 senior assistants preparing a doctoral thesis, - 50 junior assistants, - 40 junior assistants preparing master's thesis. ⋄ Postgraduate Study Program - previous education system, defense of master and doctoral dissertation from UNIVERSITY OF BIHAC

⋄ In academic 2010/2011, University of Bihac began to organize the teaching process at the second study cycle according to the Bologna. ⋄ The teaching process in the third study cycle according to the Bologna had not yet lived up at UNBI. ⋄ At some faculties/organization units of UNBI, there are applications and defenses of doctoral dissertations based on the old education system. ⋄ Faculty of Technical Engineering - UNBI: PhD studies are organized according to the above mentioned system (application/defense of PhD dissertations) and as far as preparation for doctoral study/III study cycle at Bologna, there are activities undertaken together with faculties of technical engineering in B&H to eventually organize joint teaching process coupled together with the similar colleges of the universities from the region. ⋄ Faculty of Biotechnical Sciences - UNBI: organized by application and defense of doctoral dissertations under the old educational system and as far as preparation for doctoral study/III study cycle according to the Bologna, there is still no activity. ⋄ Faculty of Law - UNBI: organized by application and defense of doctoral dissertations, and when it comes to the III study cycle, there are activities undertaken through contacts with other universities on a conceptual level. ⋄ Faculty of Pedagogy - UNBI: so far had no experience in organizing application and defense of doctoral dissertations under the old educational system (currently at the stage of preparation of the first doctoral dissertation), and as far as preparation for doctoral study/III study cycle according to the Bologna, there are activities undertaken through contacts with similar faculties of other universities in B&H. UNIVERSITY OF BIHAC

⋄ Faculty of Economics - UNBI: organized by application and defense of doctoral dissertations, and when it comes to the III study cycle, preparatory activities have been undertaken. ⋄ Islamic Faculty of Education - UNBI: no experience with the application of doctoral dissertations, and there are no activities undertaken regarding the III study cycle. ⋄ College of Nursing Studies - UNBI: there is no legal assumptions about second and third cycle.
