Presentation transcript:

The Iguazu Falls are located on the border of Brazil The Iguazu Falls are located on the border of Brazil. They divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu.

What are they like? The waterfall system consists of 275 falls along 2.7 kilometres of the Iguazu River. Some of the individual falls are up to 82 metres in height, though the majority are about 64 metres. The Devil's Throat, a U-shaped 150-metre-wide and 700-metre-long cliff, is the most impressive of all, and marks the border between Argentina and Brazil. Most of the falls are within Argentine territory. About 900 metres of the 2.7-kilometre length does not have water flowing over it. The edge of the basalt cap recedes only 3 mm per year.

How are they changing? The Iguazu falls is changing because of eroding. The water is wearing the soft rock away more quicker than the hard rock. As the waterfall erodes back a plunge pool or gorge is produced. The hard rock falls into the plunge pool which is called eroded material. Hard rock breaks off Water fall moves back Hard rock Plunge pool Undercutting Eroded Material Soft rock

How Have people used them? People have used the Iguazu falls for mainly for tourism. People travel all the world to go and see The Iguazu Falls, its is a very beautiful place to visit. Most people go on the Canadian because it is a better view of the Devils tongue and the falls. A family on goat islands looking at Iguazu falls. Devils tongue.
