Parent Teacher Conferences It is hard to believe, but the end of the first quarter is almost here (October 14 th ). That means it’s almost time for Parent / Teacher conferences. Your child’s teacher should be sending home a note regarding scheduling a conference to discuss your child’s progress through the first quarter. Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 22nd. The 15-minute conference will be held sometime between 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be no school on Friday, October 23rd. Please be sure to return the scheduling form with your top three choices of times you would like to meet with your child’s teachers. VISION: Every DA Mallory Elementary School student will be prepared to succeed in the next grade level. RESPONSIBLE October’s Character Word is Responsible. Please talk about what it means to be responsible with your child. Perhaps you could give them some opportunities to show responsibility – like clearing the dishes after a meal. Be sure to praise your child when they demonstrate that they can be responsible. Awards Assembly Parents, we hope you will be able to join us on Friday, October 30 th as we have our 1 st Quarter Celebrations assembly. We will recognize a number of students for their accomplishments during the first quarter. We will honor those students who were recognized for Perfect Attendance during 1 st Quarter, and a variety of academic achievement awards. Food Drive to Benefit The food drive will kick off on Friday, October 19 th and will continue until Friday, November 13 th. Students may bring non-perishable items such as canned vegetables, box dinners, or even powdered drink packets like Kool-Aid. D.A. Mallory students will be collecting donations for our food drive that will benefit the food pantry at Heart 2 Heart, a local ministry. Buffalo Save-A-Lot D.A. Mallory has joined G & W Foods-Apple Market Partners in Education. G & W Foods-Apple Market Partners in Education is an exciting new program in which customers shopping locally at Save-A-Lot save their register receipts to put in the shopping cart in the school lobby. The school receives 1% of the receipts collected.
