Routines & Lesson Plans Class time will be a combination of direct instruction, independent practice, class discussion, and group activities. Writing assignments at least every five weeks including college essay assignments, resume writing, and essays that correspond to ERWC units. Vocabatoons SAT Vocabulary daily with quizzes every two weeks. Most reading will be completed in class. We will read several articles from ERWC units, Shakespearean plays, and novels like “Catcher in the Rye” and “Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian.”

Homework Designed to prepare students for class assignments and/or extend learning beyond the classroom. Students should expect some out-of-class work in the form of larger projects or assignments that were not finished in class.

Homework/Classwork Policies Extra Credit is available to students who are currently earning a “C” or better in the class. Plagiarism/Cheating/Copying will ABSOLUTELY NOT be tolerated.

Make-up Work Responsibility of the student to check with your classmates or Mrs. Hargrave when you’re absent to find out what was missed. Work and exams should be made up within one day for each class day missed. When missing class due to a prearranged absence (field trip, athletic event, assembly, etc., students are responsible for turning in the work on the day it is due or before.

Assessment & Grading Assessment will be a combination of participation, test/quizzes, projects, presentations, and writing assignments. Senior Project is an important part of your second semester English grade. *See Grade Distribution on Syllabus!
