1 WELCOME BACK AMERICAN GOVERNMENT/FREE ENTERPRISE MS. FRANCIS 2008-2009

2 Preparation It is essential to be prepared! Required Materials: 3 ring binder, at least 1½ inch thick Be on time Read ahead for class discussions Turn in homework at beginning of class Be familiar with online textbookonline textbook

3 Grades Grades are not rounded There is a PBA each semester worth 10% of overall grade Feel free to see me at any time regarding your grades Check Infinite Campus regularly for your current grades

4 Class Work & Homework Requirements All work that is turned in needs to be completed in blue or black ink pen. Come to class prepared with a pen! If a pencil is needed, I will tell you in advance. All homework is due at the beginning of class.

5 Late Work Full credit will only be given to work that is turned in on time. Work turned in 1 day late can earn up to ½ credit. Beyond 1 day, work will not be accepted. Tests and standing assignments are due same day. If you are absent the day a new assignments is given, you have 5 days to complete the work. Please tell me if you’re going to be absent.

6 EOP Tests/quizzes are made up during EOP only. You can re-take any test/quiz within the same semester. Your score for a re-take cannot exceed 89%. EOP begins September 3, 2008. NO EXTRA CREDIT!

7 Class Conduct & Expectations Class rules will be enforced. The 13 tardy/absence policy will be enforced. I will sweep you, so please make sure to be in the classroom before the bell rings! You need to sign out and leave your school ID in order to use the restroom. T urn off and put away all electronic devices B e prepared I nteract with respect for one another R emember to be on time D istrict rules always apply

8 Conferences/Communication New THS website I’m here ½ hour before and after school. Be responsible and take the initiative. As always, I have an Open Door policy.

9 Handouts Translate handouts for parents for whom English is a second language. Handouts might include: A list of school phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and Web site addresses. Copies of classroom and school policies. A list of materials that children will need for class.
