Accelerated Reader Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program where students choose books at their appropriate reading levels and read them at their own pace. The students then take a quiz on their book to increase reading skills such as vocabulary, drawing conclusion, main idea, sequencing, inferences, etc. To help assist your child with finding a book title you can visit to search for available titles then check the Mary Lin Library website to ensure the book is located in the schools’ library. The Mary Lin Library link

Mathematics Place value, addition and subtraction with regrouping Multiplication (Three digit X one digit) Division (Three digit X one digit) Multi-step problem solving Measurement conversions Graphing… Mean, median, mode, and range. Geometry Math Centers for Spiral Review Students need to practice multiplication and division facts throughout the year at home. Please make sure you all have multiplication & division flashcards at home.

Multiplication X Camp Since mastering multiplication is a major emphasis of 3 rd grade, we want to enliven this skill by creating an incentive for each student to reach proficiency early in the school year. September 24 th is our “X” Camp day. We envision a large circle of family-sized camping tents set up around our grounds, with students rotating in small groups to each tent-centered activity. Activities would include creative contests, games, art and building projects, all incorporating multiplication facts and concepts. We are hoping we will have enough tents/stations so that we can rotate groups of 6-7 students at a time to each stop. To make this vision happen we need parent volunteers to lend and set up tents, create and lead activities, and provide special snacks or prizes for this special event.

Junior Achievement is a partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers that teach the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to young people all over the world.
