Keeping the Momentum Going Relationship to AMSTI Grant Applications University Liaisons Proposals for Professional Development Workshops October 30, 2004 Cohort I Quarterly Meeting Cohort II Applications and Brochures

Relationship to AMSTI Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative Parallel to ARI Limited funding now, to be expanded Summer 2006 TEAM-Math should satisfy the math portion Grades 6-12:  Nothing else should be required for math teachers  There is a separate program for science teachers Grades K-5  Training in science will be added on

Grant Applications Applications were made by 12 schools. Most have received something. We still need additional details from some. We will consider additional requests as the year progresses. We have a substantial pool of money reserved to support substitutes for teacher leaders. Schools/districts just need to submit a plan!

University Liaisons Program We have assigned a university member to each school to act as a TEAM-Math liaison. They will visit each school at least monthly to see how things are going, to ensure effective communication, and possibly to help with evaluation. How is this working?

Proposals for Professional Development Workshops Background: Schools are requesting support for particular professional development events Solution: To institute a review process To make supported activities available to all schools Discussion of the process Documentation and evaluation
