Summary of Progress to Date

Objective 1 – Strategy 1 CURRICULUM - WHAT WE WANT STUDENTS TO KNOW Develop and implement data-driven curriculum that provides instructional materials and instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners Activities and Task Year 1Comments Curriculum maps to ensure alignment (Year 1 – Math)   Curriculum and assessment maps for elementary math underway  Curriculum maps for math developed for grades 6, 7 and 8  Common assessments developed at middle grades  Work to align Algebra I and Geometry with EOC examinations Supplemental materials to fill gaps (Year 1 – Math)   Materials for new third year math courses at high school on order Needs-based adoption of new materials   Implemented new Algebra I books (Holt)  Approved two courses for third year of math at high school – Financial Fitness and Advanced Algebra Prep (Materials on order)  Limited funds did not provide opportunity for full subject review Increase teacher knowledge and skills in math   Development of Instruction and Assessment Map aligned with Bridges Mathematics curriculum provided opportunity to deepen teacher knowledge of math standards at elementary grades  Math departments at secondary level used some collaboration time to align assessments and curriculum to standards  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur

Objective 2 – Strategy 1 SUPPORT SYSTEMS – WHAT WE WILL DO TO SUPPORT STUDENTS The Lakewood School District will provide a variety of remediation programs and supports for students who may be at risk for on-time graduation. Activities and Task Year 1Comments Expand online credit recovery and remediation options for grades 6- 12   Successfully piloted APEX at the middle school with one student  Plans in place for additional use at LMS next year Explore alternative program options for grades 6-12   Secondary administrators researched alternative learning options and programs  Conducted site visits to four district program, with plans for one additional visit Clearly articulate graduation requirements and assessment options to students and parents 6-12   Counselors met with each class/grade level  Counselors conducted individual conferences with each student to plan courses and schedules for next year  Reviewed current procedures and practices for improvement next year  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur

Objective 2 – Strategy 1 (cont.) SUPPORT SYSTEMS – WHAT WE WILL DO TO SUPPORT STUDENTS The Lakewood School District will provide a variety of remediation programs and supports for students who may be at risk for on-time graduation. Activities and Task Year 1Comments Develop effective Student Learning Plans for at risk students in categorical programs   Student Learning Plans developed for at-risk students (LAP, ELL etc) Offer Cougar Academy extended learning opportunities as funding allows   Due to decline in enrollment and subsequent funding issues, we did not offer Cougar Academy Research and implement transition strategies for K-12 students  Action plan for transition to three K-5 schools developed Tentative staffing assignments made Progress to meet curriculum, technology, and facilities needs on schedule  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur

Objective 2 – Strategy 2 SUPPORT SYSTEMS –PARTNERSHIPS WITH FAMILIES FOR STUDENT SUCCESS The Lakewood School District will provide a variety of opportunities and events to increase student and parent involvement in the planning for on-time graduation in grades 6-12.
