Welcome to Back to School Night Ms. Collicutt Algebra CD and Algebra 2 This presentation is available on my webpage at miracostahigh.org.

Donations :  We need TISSUES! Please

Success:  Preview the lesson  Read the lesson the night before to get familiar with the vocabulary and the type of problems that will be assigned.  The students have the assignment sheet so they know what the next lesson will be.

Write the problems out.  This is another way to preview the lesson.  The student will be familiar with the type of problems.  Look at the examples in the book to know how many lines to skip.  If there is time in class for homework, the students will have more more time to work on the problems than writing out the problems.

After the lesson:  Explain the concept to someone… anyone!  Redo the problems from the notes.  Brainstorm everything you remember from class (either written or verbally).

Homework/Assignment:  Use the notes taken in class.  Check answers on edmodo.com  Redo the problems that were missed.  Put questions on the board in class the next day.  Be prepared for homework check with full solutions and correct answers.  Students are given at least two days for each assignment.

Notes:  Print them BEFORE the lesson.  Preview them.  Review them often (not just the night before).  Add to them.

Before the test:  Practice problems from:  Homework  Notes  Classzone.com  Create your own test and exchange with a classmate.  Review directions.

Day of test:  Come prepared!  With calculator and batteries  Pencil and eraser  Highlighter  Read ALL directions before starting test.  Do the problems you know first.  Be mindful of the time.

Tests:  Are meant to test students ability to apply what they have learned, not just memorized and recall.  Do not go home. If a student wants to spend more time with the test, make an appointment to go over it with me.  If a student takes all tests, he/she will be given the opportunity to retake the lowest TEST.
