9 th January, 2004 the day I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease

I decided it was time to take control, time to stop wallowing in ‘Pity Park’ & time to start coping

took ownership for my illness researched – internet, books, others with Parkinson's taking action and trying new approaches changed my thinking Parkinson's was not controlling me, I was in control of my Parkinson’s empowering myself

physiotherapy personal training the World Parkinson’s Congress – Glasgow 2010 completing a marathon! getting started

move4parkinsons.blogspot.com/ it started with a blog

Why Self-Management? *Estimated hours based on experience of M4P team members with Parkinson’s – estimate of 10 hours per annum face to face contact People with chronic diseases spend very limited time in direct contact with their Consultant/ Specialist In order to have a good quality of life, TIFKAP(The Individual formerly know as Patient) or, where necessary, their carer(s), must be able to manage their illness in the time when they are not directly supported by these healthcare professionals Hours Spent With Healthcare Professionals (Neurologist/ Movement Disorder Specialist)* Hours Spent Without Healthcare Professionals (Neurologist/ Movement Disorder Specialist)*

Move4Parkinson’s believe in patient-led support. Under our ‘Your Choice’ range of initiatives, PWPs can choose the programmes which best fit their own preferences and requirements. We work with PWPs in order to ensure that they understand the choices available and encourage them to try new approaches that they might not have previously considered Our Initiatives – ‘Your Choice’ M4P Website Stanford Self Management Courses Stanford Self Management Courses Yoga Parkinson’s Café 5 Elements Framework 5 Elements Framework M4P Choir Existing Planned Patient Empowerment Day Patient Empowerment Day ‘Your Choice’ Offerings More to Come ….
