EuropeAid Do not result from a direct negotiation between the state and the EC but proposed by NSA&LAs or managed jointly with international institutions Complementary to geographic programmes: actor- oriented, can reach more easily the local level. EuropeAid Tips for a successful proposal… Very good knowledge of the context & priorities of the cooperation between the EC & the State… Find relevant NSA&LA Partners in the country. Demonstrate the added-value of YOUR organisation. Writing the proposal: be specific, straight to the point & very clear in terms of specific objectives & expected results.

EuropeAid Some challenges concerning civil society involvement in EC cooperation How to better define the roles & added-value European v. local actors? How to deal with the very high competition coming from the call for proposals procedure (and very low success rate of applicants)? How to adapt EC instruments to be more strategic when engaging with civil society organizations? 2010: Launch of a multi-stakeholders dialogue / working group to try to answer to these questions. ITUC will have a key role to play.
