Principal Position The Elementary Principal provides leadership for the staff of the school in developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive educational program, and administers the program in accordance with School Board policies and administrative rules and regulations.

Past Positions and Experience - Provided an instructional program consistent with the goals and objectives of the school district; provided for the continuing development and implementation of an effective instructional program through classroom supervision and instructional leadership; worked with the school staff and community to maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning and appropriate student behavior; utilized available supervisory personnel to ensure an effective instructional program. - Supervised and evaluated the performance of each member of the school staff and established individual programs for improvement consistent with the District's staff development objectives; advised Personnel Services of staff needs and participated in the recruitment, employment, assignment, promotion, transfer, non-renewal, and dismissal of licensed and classified personnel. - Fostered effective home and school communication by providing opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss student progress and other matters of mutual concern and by encouraging community involvement in school activities. - Devised and administered a school budget, utilizing all available funds, which is consistent with District instructional and administrative goals; supervises the maintenance of accurate bookkeeping records and the accounting of school funds. - Exercised leadership in the development, implementation, and interpretation of district and School Board Policies and Regulations. - Kept abreast of developments in Elementary Education and in the field of education generally by participating in professional enrichment activities.

Experience TEACHER OF CHILDREN WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT AND ORIENTATION & MOBILITY – PULASKI CO SCHOOLS, GILES CO. SCHOOLS, RADFORD CITY SCHOOLS. — 1991 – present. Assess visual ability, develop, create and implement IEP’s, for students with visual impairments from two years old to twenty two years old. Schedule caseloads, order and produce materials/large print/Braille, positive interaction/suggestions/mainstreaming modifications with student’s parents, teachers, and administrators. Train in orientation & mobility. TEACHER OF CHILDREN WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS AND ORIENTATION & MOBILITY-MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PULASKI COUNTY, GILES COUNTY AND RADFORD CITY SCHOOLS — Set up initial vision program for four county school systems. Assess, develop, create program for IEPS for students with visual impairments from two years old to twenty two years old. Schedule caseloads, order and produce materials/large print/Braille, positive interaction/suggestions/mainstreaming modifications with student’s parents, teachers and administrators. Train in orientation & mobility. TEACHER OF CHILDREN WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT- INTERMEDIATE UNIT WASHINGTON, PA — Assess, develop goals, write IEPS and teach students with multiple disabilities with visual impairments. EDUCATION SPECIALIST-VA DEPARTMENT FOR THE VISUALLY HANDICAPPED (VDVH) –BRISTOL,VA First certified vision teacher in the Bristol state office with the VDVH. Provided all vision services for thirteen counties. Territory extended from Carroll County/Bland County and all counties west to Tenn. Assess, develop IEP and teach students with visual impairments in their home and schools. Write lessons and train instructional assistants to carry through with supplemental lessons. Order materials as needed. Assist with career training.
