As a good citizen of the academic community the characteristics that are most important are…  Integrity  Contributions to the public good  Love of learning and commitment to lifelong learning

What is good citizenship?  Presupposes a community…in the case of the academic community the faculty are the primary citizens, with collective agreements.  Citizenship implies rights and obligations, and implies a civil society.  All communities are governed by policies and politics; both are important dimensions in academic communities.
