CIRCUIT AND SYSTEMS SKEE /2014, Sem II Nik Din Muhamad Section 01 Bilik: P (MEK)

OBJECTIVES: To introduce students to the theories and concepts of DC and AC circuits. The course will also develop skills to analyse all linear electrical circuits. PRE-REQUISITE: SKEE 1023 Course homepage:

COURSE OUTCOMES: CO1 State and describe the basic concept of transient, alternating current and two-port circuits. CO2Apply the theorems and concepts of circuit analysis for solving and analyzing engineering related problems in electrical circuits CO3 Work in a team and communicate effectively. This is what you will gain when at the end of this course

PROGRAM OUTCOMES PROGRAM OUTCOMES PO1 Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering PO2 Ability to analyze and interpret data PO3 Ability to identify, formulate and solve electrical engineering problems PO4 Ability to work with modern instrumentation, software and hardware PO5 Ability to design a system, component or process to fulfil certain specifications PO6 Ability to communicate effectively PO7 Ability to function and be productive in a team PO8 Ability to recognize the need for, and to engage in life-long learning PO9 Understand the impact of the work of engineers on society PO10 Understand ethical and professional responsibility PO1PO2PO3PO4PO5PO6PO7PO8PO9PO10 CO1  CO2  CO3 

Textbook: FUNDAMENTALS OF ELECTRIC CIRCUITS Alexander & Sadiku, 4 th edition, Mc Graw Hill Evaluation: Test 2 (18/5/2013, 9am-10.30am)15% Test 1 (30/3/2013, 9am-10.30am) 15% F. Exams 50% Homework10% Quizzes 5% 100% Common to all sections Different for each section Group Assignment 5%

Evaluation: Assignment - group submission - PSPICE simulation based assignment Use of PSpice to solve circuit problems Verification of solutions to circuit problems using PSPICE Homework - individual submission – may contain PSPICE simulation Almost every week - LATE homework will not be accepted Questions are taken from textbook/during lectures Format of your homework

Hints on how to get good grades : Attend lectures (with some preparation) Ask questions in class if you don’t understand Do your homework on time Come and see me if you have problems Do your assignments on time Sit for your tests and exams Minimize memorizing, maximize understanding
