V ISUAL -S PATIAL I NTELLIGENCE “ PICTURE SMART ” o This type of learning makes it possible for a person to receive visual information, transfer it to memory, and recreate those images in his mind. o This learner will prefer graphs, charts, maps, and pictures over auditory or written information. o This learner is imaginative, creating vivid mental pictures. Using his visual intelligence, he will enjoy drawing, designing, looking at pictures and images, slides, videos, and films. o Often this learner will be a “doodler”, creating images in the margins of a written document, using spatial intelligence to help them process the information.

M ATHEMATICAL -L OGICAL I NTELLIGENCE “ NUMBER SMART ” o A person with this intelligence is able to recognize logic in patterns and relationships. o This learner can easily categorize, classify, and organize information. o This learner can easily handle complex data or calculations. o This student will best learn when allowed to ask questions, analyze, and find logical solutions. o This learner will enjoy working with numbers, deductive and inductive thinking, recognizing patterns, finding order and logic.

L INGUISTIC INTELLIGENCE “ WORD SMART ” o Linguistic learners are efficient at making sense of their surroundings through language. o This learner will enjoy reading, writing, listening, and talking about things. He will be an articulate speaker, avid reader, and accurate speller because words fascinate him. o This learner also has a good memory for words, and will understand grammar. He will enjoy creative writing, journal writing, reading, and speaking. o Often this student can easily pick up a second language, even sign language.

B ODILY - KINESTHETIC INTELLIGENCE “ BODY SMART ” o This type of learner can use the body effectively, such as dancers or surgeons. o They like movement, touching and making things. o This person communicates through body language. o This learner needs hands-on learning, physical activity, acting out, role playing.

M USICAL INTELLIGENCE “ MUSIC SMART ” o This type of learner is sensitive to music, sound and rhythm. o This person will easily remember information that can be put to a rhythm or musical background. o This student needs musical instruments, songs, multimedia.

I NTERPERSONAL INTELLIGENCE “ PEOPLE SMART ” o This type of learner has a keen intuition about the feelings, moods, intentions, and motives of other people. o This person learns through interaction in groups and will often be a leader. o This student needs time and attention from the instructor and peers, and will work best in a group atmosphere.

I NTRAPERSONAL INTELLIGENCE “ SELF SMART ” o This type of learner has a good understanding of his own interests and goals. o This person will like to work independently, and will demonstrate intuition and motivation, as well as a strong will and inner confidence. o This student learns through introspection and will enjoy quiet activities such as journal writing or reading independently.

N ATURALIST INTELLIGENCE “ NATURE SMART ” o This type of learner is sensitive to nature and the environment, and will often be familiar with things in nature, such as flowers, rocks, or animals. o This person will enjoy being outdoors, but also the study of natural things, as found in science curriculum. This student will enjoy experiments and hands-on activities that involve nature.
