Jigsaw Lesson on the Federal Reserve System Instructions for

Home Group Each person will be a member of a “home” group. There will be a 1, 2, & 3 in each “home” group.

Expert Group Each student will report to the station that corresponds with the number assigned. There each individual will become an “expert” on their respective topic: –1s: History of the Federal Reserve –2s: Structure of the Federal Reserve System –3s: Function of the Federal Reserve System

Expert Group First, READ the text provided, completing the Cornell Notes as you read the text.Cornell Notes The questions for your Cornell Notes are the objectives. Second, as a group, answer the Checkpoint questions at the end of your text in complete sentences. For example: Why were rural citizens opposed to the First Bank of the United States? Go Home... After becoming an “expert” in your area, report to home group to teach them what you now know. Teach 1 objective at a time. THEY MUST BECOME AN EXPERT IN YOUR AREA! Ask your home group members the Checkpoint questions to assess their learning (and your teaching).

Individual Research Activity There will be no talking during this activity (except to me). A letter-grade reduction will be issued per occurrence. Your report must be typed in Microsoft Word. After completing the specified task(s), run a grammar and spellcheck. Insert a header with your Name, Class Period, and “Federal Reserve System Report” Print and submit by the end of class. Any copying/pasting will result in a grade of “0”— plagiarism/cheating.
