Contents 2 Experiment Metrology Unit Infrastructure (survey and general) Different detector assemblies Alignment of components (relative and absolute) Maintenance Accelerator & computing Unit Alignment of beam lines

EM – Infrastructure 3 Geometrical infrastructure in experimental zones Physical references as brackets, tripods etc. Regular measurement of reference geodetic network New Civil Engineering structure => movements Tracing of beamline in experimental areas Different works for general infrastructure demanded by Technical Coordination

EM –Assemblies and alignment 4 Definition of reference points on detectors Discussion of metrology needs during detectors life time Metrology and fiducialisation of different detector parts Geometrical follow-up of detector assemblies Alignment of components relative to each other and with respect to beamline Operation (short and long term)

EM – Information on CENF project 5 Limited information available for the moment Preliminary discussion started A question list has been sent by SU and more detailed discussions are expected soon Info is presently too limited to give serious estimation for Manpower and equipment budget CENF planning in relation to YETS can change estimation significantly

10 THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION

11 General coordination How many experiments will be constructed? Who are the responsible persons for the individual experiments? Technical Coordinators or Project Leaders… What is the general timescale for Production, assembly, operations and where the survey will be implicated? Maintenance periods including survey after initial installation? Any demands for survey interventions in parallel to LHC YETS ? Survey at the delivery of the civil engineering in context of experimental installation (scanning)? Is any intervention expected for general infrastructure installation (tracings, controls etc).? Integration and installation of Survey infrastructure in zones like EHN1 ext. Definition of the manpower/needed instrumentation/budget following individual discussions of the points below Placement requirements for detectors (physics and engineering) Definition of demands and implication of survey section in Detector construction Detector assembly Detector placement Define coordinate systems for placement on beam lines Beam lines are partly inclined but detectors are not inclined Design and assembly of the cryostats and detectors Definition of references for assembly and placement in 6DOF Integration of reference marks on the different components in the design Should any pieces be geometrically cross-check in company or at reception? Define coordinate systems for assembly How will the detector be geometrically linked to the outside of the cryostat to determine the detector position? Survey interventions in the assembly procedure Define precisions needs for the different surveys and with respect to what… Is a direct follow up by survey of each step asked? Is a control at milestones of assembly as verification asked? Do you expect to do deformation tests to confirm calculations on prototypes? What is the size of the expected deformations? How will deformations of tooling and parts be treated during assembly, transport or installation?
