Don’t forget your colleagues! They have a wealth of information, experiences, and STUFF that they are willing to share.

Check out your book series publisher site! Many times, there are free sections OR they suggest additional resources.

Search engines can find all kinds of things on the Internet if you use them efficiently. Narrow your search so that you are looking for exactly what you need. Many search engines have pages in several World Languages.

Many students will never have the experience of travelling to a country where the language which they are studying is spoken. Virtual field trips can make it possible for you to bring the world closer to your students.

On-line communities for World Languages provide a platform for the sharing of ideas and resources as well as getting answers to questions about language teaching practices and learning.

Often, we need to provide our students with additional practice with grammar concepts or vocabulary, especially when confronted with a substitute who is not proficient in the language being taught. The Internet offers a variety of websites which can help create those supplemental activities.

A wiki is a website that allows users to add and update content on the site using their own Web browser. A blog is a kind of journal, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order.

YouTube is very popular with our students but there are clips which can be beneficial to the World Language classroom too. Check your system’s policy on the use of this site in advance. Many systems block it. If YouTube is blocked, try TeacherTube. In some cases, it is not blocked and the same clips are available on both sites. If both are blocked, there are YouTube downloaders available online which you can use to convert files to useable formats _ html

Egg timers and kitchen timers have been part of every classroom for many years. There are many situations when we want to give our students a specific amount of time to complete a task. Online timers give us the ability to project that time so that students are able to monitor their progress.

Every embassy would like to share information about its people and country with students. Very often, the embassy has an Education Office with a staff whose job it is to interact with the school systems and to provide educational programs and/or materials.

Our World Language professional organizations provide a wealth of information about activities, conventions, standards (local, state, and national), and other timely topics of importance to language learning. Bookmark these sites on your computer for easy access!

Rubrics are used to evaluate a wide variety of student work. Creating rubrics can be very time consuming, especially if a very detailed one is needed. Most of the time, a pre-made rubric just does not fit for your situation.

How many times have your students asked you how many euros are in $10? Currency converters are easy to use and usually free on the Internet.

Podcasts (audio) and Vodcasts (video), broadcasts which have been converted to MP3 or other formats for playback, are excellent ways to share authentic language experiences with students. Download ready-made podcasts/vodcasts or make your own as class projects.

All of us have been exposed to Wikipedia, either through our own use or that of our students. Important to remember is that, by definition, this is a wiki and anyone can add information to an entry. Always check a second source for accuracy!

Many classroom tools have been made available via Web 2.0 which will enhance what we do each day. Some of these tools will increase teacher productivity and others will be useful for students too.

This site will save you time if you use flashcards for any purpose. You can search for ready-made sets or make your own and it’s FREE!
