Chapter IV Handbook Revisions Timeline July 2013 Handbook Revisions Approved by the BOT Summer 2013 Negotiations to Merge Category II and Category III Changes into Revised Chapter VI Fall 2013 Faculty Senate Vetting and Approval of Chapter VI Revisions

Chapter IV Handbook Revisions Timeline Spring 2014 Collaboration Between Welfare Committee and Provost’s Office Reconciling new Chapter VI language with old Chapter IV language Removing archaic language from Chapter IV Ensuring that policies in Chapter IV comport with the Chapter V (Tenure, RTP, PTR, and Emeritus Status) July 2013 Handbook

Summary of Changes Category II and III Policies and Procedures in Chapter VI deleted from Chapter IV – Old language replaced by new language – Chapter IV language brought into compliance with Chapter VI revisions approved in November 2013

Summary of Changes Language limiting term contracts to Category I faculty removed to recognize that Category II and III faculty are also contract faculty as per revised Chapter VI Language referring to performance pay replaced with language referring to merit increases.

Conclusions FS Welfare Committee unanimous vote to recommend changes to Handbook—17 March 2014 Questions?
