1. Define lifestyle diseases and list 3 diseases that can be influenced by lifestyle choices. Are diseases caused partly by unhealthy behaviors and partly by other factors. They are diseases influenced by the choices you make that affect your health. Some types of Diabetes, some types of heart diseases and some type of cancers(be specific in your answers)

2. What are the 6 classes of nutrients which are necessary to maintain health? Give an example of each. Carbohydrates… breads, grains Fats… unsaturated, saturated, trans fat Proteins… meat, eggs, yogurt Vitamins… water or fat soluble Minerals… calcium, iron, potassium Water

3. What 3 nutrients provide energy for the body? Carbohydrates: class of energy giving nutrients that include sugars, starches and fiber. Fats: are a class of energy-giving nutrients that are also the main form of energy storage in the body Proteins: are a class of nutrients made up of amino acids, which are needed to build and repair body structures and to regulate processes in the body.

4. What is a dietary fiber and list 3 ways fiber is important to your body. It is a complex carbohydrate that provides little energy and cannot be digested by humans. Examples: fruits, veggies and grains. May prevent heart disease Keeps you regular May prevent colon cancer

5. Describe the difference between stress and stressor. Stress: is the body’s and mind’s response to demand. Stressor: is any situation that puts a demand on the body or mind.
