Why conduct a questionnaire? Talk to the person next to you. Why do you think that you need to do a questionnaire?

Useful information – What you have written down. Useful information – what I have written down

Useful information – What you have written down. Useful information – what I have written down Make sure your result is representative ( how big is your sample?) Use precise questions (Be clear/ simple but precise) record a persons age (Offer a choice of age ranges. It you categorise ensure that you do not overlap) Use a range of prices (Offer a choice of age ranges. It you categorise ensure that you do not overlap) Think where/ when you ask people. Ensure questions aren’t bias.

On average how many portions of fruit or veg do you have per day? How often to you eat breakfast? Sorting template Sorting cards Sorting Activity Read the questions Discuss whether it is a good question or a bad question Put the question in the appropriate column. (Don’t forget to have a reason!)

Now that you have answered some questions about how to write a questionnaire, could you answer some past paper questions? Past paper – 1 Past paper – 2 Past paper – 3 Past paper - 4

Now that you know how to design a questionnaire, you need to decide how you many people you are going to ask, and what you are going to ask them? How many people to ask? Remember that asking too few people will not make the questionnaire representative of your area. But, asking to many people will take up too much time. Discuss in your group, then as a class how many people you will ask.

What type of questions will we ask? As a class make a spider diagram of the types of questions you will ask.

Task Work in your teams Log on to ONE computer Within you team produce a questionnaire that you will ask people in the area. The questions must relate to your proposal
