Objectives: To understand the factors which must be considered when planning healthy meals for different groups of people. To explore portion size guidelines and the effects of portion size on health. To explore how portion sizes have changed over time. (page references 42-43) DO NOW TASK: Start reading

For the practical task (NEA 2) and the written paper you will be expected to: To know the factors which must be considered when planning balanced meals for people at 5 different life stages. To consider and apply your knowledge of important nutrients Understand eating habits and life style choices.

Some people have special dietary needs for a variety of reasons: Choose not to eat certain foods. Dietary intolerance or allergy Medical or health conditions write a list of these specific dietary needs which may restrict food choice

Create mind maps or fact cards on the nutritional needs for each of the following life stages: Try to make concise points. Nutrients that are important in the diet with reasons. Any advice on eating habits and food choices linked to the Eatwell guidelines. Include 3 key learning points for each life stage Page references: 45 – 55 Don’t forget to use your lifelines

10 Homework Complete the dietary needs of life stages tasks for all 5 life stages for next Monday (task 4) Make sure you use the lifelines in your digital text book.
