Mean Step 1: Enter the data. Step 2: Type “Average” or “Mean,” and click on the box where you want the statistic to appear. Step 3: Click on the “Formulas” tab. Select “More Functions.” Go to the “Statistical” Menu, and choose “AVERAGE.” Click to continue.

Mean (continued) Step 4: When the “Function Arguments” window appears enter the first cell and last cell of the list of numbers you want averaged separated by a colon (:). Example: first:last. The average will appear in the cell you selected. Alternate: Type “=AVERAGE(firstcell:lastcell) in the formula bar.

Median Step 1: Enter the data. Step 2: Type “Median,” and click on the box where you want the statistic to appear. Step 3: Click on the “Formulas” tab. Select “More Functions.” Go to the “Statistical” Menu, and choose “MEDIAN.” Click to continue.

Range Step 1: Enter the data. Step 2: Type “Range,” and click on the box where you want the statistic to appear. Step 3: Tell Excel to find the difference in the maximum (max) and minimum (min) values. Type: =MAX(firstcell:lastcell)-MIN(firstcell:lastcell) In the formula bar.

Rounding to the Nearest Whole If you need to round to the nearest whole, click on the cell, right click, and select “Format Cells.” In the “Format Cells” window, choose the “Number Tab.” Select “Number,” and set the decimal places to “0.” This will round your number.
