Cash Crop A cash crop is a crop grown in large quantities to be sold for a profit.

Assembly An assembly is an elected group that make laws on behalf of the people.

Democratic In a democratic government the power rests with the people.

Puritans The Puritans ,a Separatists group that broke away from the Church of England, valued a “pure” relationship with God.

Great Migration The Great Migration is the name given to the choice and action made by many Puritan families to leave England and come to America.

Mayflower Compact The Mayflower Compact, a document including a set of rules agreed to by all the Pilgrims, determined how the Plymouth colony would be governed.

Slave Trade The business of capturing, transporting and selling people as slaves is known as the Slave Trade.

Quakers The Quakers in their religious doctrine practiced the beliefs of equality for all, brotherly love, nonviolence, and living a simple life style.

House of Burgesses The House of Burgesses was the first representative assembly in the American Colonies.
