Indicators used by MS IT for contaminants D Concentration of the contaminants mentioned above, measured in the relevant matrix (such as biota, sediment and water) in a way that ensures comparability with the assessments under Directive 2000/60/EC Levels of pollution effects on the ecosystem components concerned, having regard to the selected biological processes and taxonomic groups where a cause/effect relationship has been established and needs to be monitored TG DIKE, 4 July 2013

Concentration of the contaminants Single sample: GES is reached when for all priority substances EQS – Environmental Quality Standards are respected Index that calculates for each substance the difference between concentration value and EQS, sum and weigh in a proper way all the differences Assessment area: assuming a proper cover by monitoring stations of the assessment area, GES is reached when at least 70 % of samples collected in the assessment area is at GES. Subregion: GES is reached when all assessment areas belonging to the subregion are at GES TG DIKE, 4 July 2013

Levels of pollution effects on the ecosystem components Single sample: GES is reached when for all priority substances variations for bioaccumulation and biomarkers are not meaningful All control organisms comes from assessment areas that are in GES for Assessment area: assuming a proper cover by monitoring stations of the assessment area, GES is reached when at least 50% of samples collected in the assessment area is at GES. Subregion: GES is reached when all assessment areas belonging to the subregion are at GES TG DIKE, 4 July 2013

EMODnet and Indicators & Single sample concentrations values and monitoring stations are represented with CDI metadata GES compliance can be calculated from EMODnet once algorithm for indicators is agreed Assessment areas and subregions will be part of EMODnet platform EMODNet Chemistry will provide the following products to be used by the authorities in charge of the assessment: Diva interpolated maps Time series plots Coastal visualisations, including GIS representations of assessments. Black Sea and EMODnet for D5 All Black Sea states are EMODNET Chemistry partners Data collection: National Black sea states monitoring programme(s)/sub-Regional Monitoring Programme(s): Black Sea Integrated Monitoring Programme(BSIMAP), Bucharest Convention, Research projects Data assembly: Data are assembled in the Black Sea Information System (BSIS).
