2.  An assessment needs to be made of the relevance of EMODnet chemistry data to OSPAR/HELCOM. This will be achieved by follow-up meetings, including with appropriate technical groups.  The EMODnet Chemistry portal may be able to provide maximum impact on MSFD reporting by concentrating on the Mediterranean and Black Sea and through using methods developed in OSPAR and HELCOM. Chemistry portal to report back to the next meeting within 6 months.  Appropriate information must be provided in the metadata to identify chemistry/biology data that is suitable for inclusion in MSFD reporting based on QA and QC procedures used in collecting it. HELCOM and OSPAR indicator specifications should identify the appropriate metadata needed. EMODnet Chemistry and Biology to report back on progress to next meeting, including possibilities to filter data on these metadata fields and progress in developing mechanisms for accessing data from non-EMODnet partner sources.  The Secretariat will collate requests for specific tools/products/provisions from MSFD users to portals and ensure the relevant people are informed. It will also track progress of the requests.  OSPAR and HELCOM will set up dialogues with the Biology and Human activities portal to explore how EMODnet can contribute to upcoming and future data assessments. If suitable, the progress of this dialogue and subsequent actions will be presented as a talk at the EMODnet jamboree in October.  “Health warnings” need to be added to many pages on all portals to inform the user that the outputs are still under development and are not necessarily a comprehensive data set/overview. Report back on progress at next meeting.  A project to examine use-cases of relevance to MSFD for a particular sea basin as a way to identify gaps and ways forward on making EMODnet relevant for MSFD would have great benefit. It could build a series of layers of different parameters of relevance to MSFD and identify gaps. This would need independent funding initially and could ultimately be integrated in the scope of the sea-basin checkpoint activities.  A future meeting needs to include EMODnet Seabed Habitats project.
