Chamber study missions in Denver, Philadelphia, Seattle and others have proven that Civic Amenities; Improve the quality of life for all of its residents Enable the Region to better attract visitors Attract new businesses and a 21st Century workforce while retaining existing ones Makes a region more desirable - People choose “where to live” Creates an identity for the region or community that lays a foundation for investment

STRATEGIC PLAN Improve the quality of life for all of its residents Enable the Region to better attract visitors, new businesses and a 21st Century workforce Help the Region retain and grow existing businesses

GOALS Develop a strong base of support for our civic amenities and cultural and recreational institutions, from the region’s businesses, public agencies, and residents Enhance the quality of our existing civic amenities to increase participation and attendance Expand the range of cultural offerings by adding new civic amenities

GOALS Secure funding sources to develop and sustain both existing and new amenities Identify and promote development of civic amenities throughout the region Link existing and new civic amenities to education programs at all levels to build on the region’s commitment to education Develop civic amenities and major events that will substantially boost the numbers of tourists and convention visitors to the region

NEXT STEPS

Prepare Final Strategy by March 2014 Mail out to all Stakeholder groups – September 2013 requesting input by mid-November. Stakeholder include: businesses, public agencies and community and cultural organizations. Solicit comments, Additional Projects & Endorsements Prepare Final Strategic Plan by March 2014

SHORT TERM (6 to 9 mo) Prepare Final Strategy (cont.) Put together an organizational framework and a coalition to provide leadership to implement the Civic Amenities Strategic Action Plan Conduct Market Research and Polling to determine if there is support for public financing of Civic Amenities Develop website for communications
