Goals by the Chinese Government in the 11th five year plan / Environment protection as highest priority and called for a "resource saving society". Reduce energy consumption with 20% per unit GDP, with annual cuts of 4 percent. Reducing major pollutants/emissions by 10%, with annual cuts of 2 percent. USD 3.2 billion Investment on energy efficiency in 2007 Confirmed at the 17th CPC congress meeting and added changes to the appointment policies.

...and some conclusions. What we have done is nothing unique – any EU country can do it. EU countries are highly regarded in China for their environemtnal performance. Environment is top issue in China and opens doors! The market is huge, money available and we can all join in. It is easy to interact with Chinese on these issues since there is a crying demand from there side. China is ready for different cooperation modes.
