Body Types PAL 11

Take a moment to…  List 3-5 ways that each person is different.  From this list, what things can you change? What things can’t you change even if you wanted to?  Will some things change over time naturally, whether we want them to or not?

 List 3 things you are good at. Of these, what are you the best at?  B. Everyone has his or her strengths (and weaknesses).  A person’s strengths and weaknesses are part of what defines them as a person (these are among their unique qualities)  One thing that makes the world interesting is that everyone has his or her own set of unique qualities.

Just as with other traits, each of us grows, develops, and matures at different rates.  Normal physical growth and involve rapid changes in height, weight, and weight distribution.  Is often accompanied by an increase in appetite.

Healthy growth and physical development depend on:  1. a healthy diet that satisfies your hunger (but not dieting). The word “diet” does not always mean losing weight. It also means the usual food and drink that a person consumes, so a “healthy diet” is just another way of saying good nutrition.  a. normal growth and physical development require increased amounts of calories.  b. restriction of calories or nutrients during growth and maturation may lead to growth problems or even health problems later in life.  2. Regular and enjoyable physical activity.

We will be most satisfied with our growth and development if we:  1. Recognize that we are all different physically (just as we are different in many other ways).  a. We each naturally have a certain body type, and that is ok. -Body type (build) is largely hereditary.  -Physical fitness is a factor that is within our control.  b. our no. 1 priority should be to stay healthy.  2. recognize that change is unavoidable and is ok.  3. accept others for who they are and not how they look. This is the first step in respect. showing respect for others will help earn their respect for you.

What are some examples of body types people have?

Endomorph  The naturally big person with a round face, wide hips, big bones, slow metabolism and high number of fat cells - called endomorphs.  The endomorphs need to have a balanced diet. It should be complete with vegetables and fruits. To stay in healthy weight range - calorie intake needs to be reduced. Nevertheless - do not cut out meals completely.  And of course - my favorite - perform physical activity with high duration.

Mesomorph  The naturally muscular person with wide shoulders, small waist, athletic build, low body fat and fast metabolism - called mesomorphs.  This is the type of body that everybody would like to have. No matter what body type you have - we all must eat a well balanced diet.  Cardiovascular exercise and weight training will be beneficial and will keep you in the best shape.

Ectomorph  A thin person with a linear appearance, small muscles, extremely fast metabolism, low body fat, narrow hips, shoulders and waist - called ectomorphs.  People with this type of body must have well balanced and rich in nutrients diet.  Also, it is important to exercise and start weight training program. High weights and low repetitions will be most beneficial to build the muscles.

Body Type Depends on Many Factors  Nutrition  Physical Activity  Age/Maturation  Age  Heredity (take a look at your parents. Are you built like them?)
