SUPPORTPROTECTIONMOVEMENT BLOOD PRODUCTION Functions Of The Skeleton Fill in the table below

SUPPORTPROTECTIONMOVEMENTBLOOD PRODUCTION It forms a framework to support your body and give it strength. Your cranium protects your brain. Your ribs and sternum protect your heart and lungs. Your muscles are firmly attached to your skeleton. When they contract they pull on bones. Some bones contain red bone marrow. This makes red cells, white cells and platelets for blood. The ribs, vertebrae, humerus and femur all have some red bone marrow. Functions Of The Skeleton

So what does the skeleton do? The skeleton has 5 major functions. 1)To give the body its s ss shape 2)To p pp produce blood 3)To p pp protect the vital organs 4)Allow m mm movement through joints 5)S upport the body in the up- right position (the bones of the skeleton are also used to suspend some of the vital organs, keeping them in the correct place.

The bones of the Skeleton The h h h h h uuuu mmmm aaaa nnnn s s s s kkkk eeee llll eeee tttt oooo nnnnconsists of 206 bones. These bones support your body and allow you to move. Bones manufacture blood cells and store important minerals. The longest bone in our bodies is the femur (thigh bone).

The Skeleton is divided into 2 main parts The skeleton is divided into two main parts, the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. The skeleton is divided into two main parts, the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. axial skeleton The axial skeleton – consists of the skull, vertebral column, ribs and sternum and its forms the support of the body. appendicular skeleton The appendicular skeleton consists of the arms and shoulder girdle and the legs and hip girdle.

It is vital you learn the bones of skeleton Make sure you correctly copy the skeleton down

Can you label the major bones of the skeleton?
