Porcupines The animal I researched was the porcupine. Porcupines are mammals. They live in the woodlands of New York State.

Physical Attributes Porcupines have unique features .Porcupines look like large rodents .Some have white bands to cover their backs .they have dark brown and some times black hair. porcupines have really, really pointy quills that cover their whole body.

Habitat and Shelter Porcupines sometimes live in forests or sometimes in grasslands . They could also live in deserts . Some live in hallow logs . others live in the top of trees . Most porcupines live in holes . In the winter porcupines move to warmer area to keep warm!

Diet and Predators Porcupines like to eat many things. All of the porcupines food comes from nature. Some of the food it likes to eat are bark, berries and branches .They also like to eat seeds and flowers too .Some other foods a porcupine like are twigs and clover .In the summer they like to enjoy green leaves .Porcupines like to have their foods but some animals like to eat porcupines !Some of the predators to the porcupines are birds like the eagle and the Great Horned Owl. Wolves and fisher cats are predators that are mammals .Some other predators to the porcupines are, pythons and martens

Interesting Facts Some interesting facts about the are, if a porcupine finds a good feeding spot, it will go back the day after following the same path it used the night before .Another fact about the porcupine is that it has three kinds of hair all over its body .One more fact about the porcupine is that it sometimes lives up o 20 years old .

Conclusion In conclusion , porcupines are amazing animals . Since they live in New York State it wouldn’t be surprising if you ever saw one . So keep an eye out but also keep your distance . Wild animals should only be looked at, not touched!
