Presentation transcript:

Pg 77 #4 How do hormones and life experiences influence emotions? Hormones influence your mood and your energy levels Moods and excess energy can get us in trouble with other people. New responsibilities and life experiences can lead to us having confusing emotions.

Pg. 81 #2 Why might it be hard to recognize what emotions you feel? Recognizing emotions can be difficult because you may feel several emotions at once. You may experience an emotion at a new level of intensity.

Opposite emotions- match the emotions! Fear Sadness Hate Love Happiness confidence

Pg. 81 #3 Does everyone respond to emotional triggers in the same way? No, what affects one person in one way could affect another person differently.

Pg. 85 #3 How can a person distinguish between healthy and unhealthy emotions? Emotions are unhealthy when they are expressed in ways that are harmful to people or property. Emotions are healthy when they are expressed in constructive, positive ways.

Can emotions be good and bad ? Can emotions be positive and negative? The key is to be able to recognize the Emotion and to know how to handle or deal with that emotion!

How can we deal with ANGER! Anger is a normal, healthy emotional reaction to certain stressors. When does it become unhealthy? When we let it control us! Anger > conflict > aggression > leads to violence! Now it becomes unhealthy!

Anger generates energy Anger generates energy! How can we control the energy generated by anger? Take a break – walkaway and calm down Exercise – this gets rid of anger energy Talk – getting your feelings out will help solve the conflict Stop and think – what could happen if you don’t get control of your anger? Get help – ongoing problems should be shared with an adult or a professional

Creative ways to Handle “anger energy” Create or play music > draw > dance Painting > making a sculpture > acting Make a film > make a garden Write a story > watch a movie > play a sport Listen to music > read a book Use your anti-stress techniques …breathing ….visualization…out tension the tension…muscle relaxation
