Using the Pocket PC for NYC FitnessGram 3/6/06

Dell Pocket PC Set Up Open your box from Dell Remove the protective wrapping from the CD ROM disk and unwrap the Pocket PC along with its components. Insert battery into unit (see Dell user manual). Plug unit into power source and begin charging (see Dell user manual). Insert the disk into your desk top PC and wait a moment for the system to react.

Click on “Getting Started.”

Click on “START HERE.”

Click on Install ActiveSync.

Click on Install

Click OK

Click RUN

Depending on PC setting this screen may appear. Click RUN.

Click NEXT

Do NOT click the cancel button. System will automatically copy files and display percentage of completeness.

Your USB ports may be in the front or the back of your computer (not the monitor). Click NEXT Follow the instructions on the screen. Note the power button is the round button on the top of the unit next to the word “DELL."

Click NEXT in order to select “Standard partnership." Do not change the setting to Guest partnership.

Click NEXT

If you are resetting your device you will get this screen. You must rename the device and click on “Next."

Click NEXT

Click FINISH

Systems are now communicating automatically. Wait a moment please.

Synchronizing is taking place at this point.

Connected means data from the Pocket PC to your desk- top computer can be transferred back and forth.

TAP this screen once to set up your Pocket PC. Using your stylus pen (found tucked inside the back of the unit) TAP the cross hair and repeat several times as the cursor moves. TAP the next button.

Tap and hold pen on appointment to activate the drop down and select CUT. Tap and hold pen on the new time slot to activate the drop down and select PASTE. The result is a transfer of appointment from one time slot to the other. This cut and paste feature works similarly with other PPC functions.

Tap on time zone pull down and select GMT 5 Eastern US. Tap Next button. Tap the screen once more to advance. Tap the screen once more.

This is the next screen that appears. Tap Start to activate the pull down and select Internet Explorer This screen will appear by default

Tap in the URL address area. A key pad will appear. Tap the electronic key pad and type: After typing URL address place unit in cradle tap the green arrow or tap the Enter key on the key pad.

Tap on the first download. Wait for the time bar to complete the download. Tap YES.

Tap on the second download. Wait for the time bar to complete the download. Please note: you may get this error message: Ignore it by tapping OK Tap YES.

Tap on the third download. Tap YES.Wait for the time bar to complete the download. Please note: you may get this error message: Ignore it by tapping OK

Tap on the fourth download. Tap YES.Wait for the time bar to complete the download. Please note: you may get this error message: Ignore it by tapping OK

Tap on Start, Programs Tap on NYC FIT shortcut Tap in the User ID field. Use the keyboard function to type in your User ID (central\your user ID). Tap in the password field and enter your password. When complete tap on the enter key on the keyboard.

This is the main menu of NYCFitnessGram on the Pocket PC. Tap on “Get Info." This screen shows that you have received the class roster successfully. First time you log in: Tap on Yes.

Choose a class and student -OR- a class and test item from the drop- down menus. Enter the scores and click on OK when done. At the Class selection screen, tap on Main menu or OK.

Tap on Send Info. CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE SENT YOUR SCORES TO YOUR DESKTOP!

Please note: from now on FitnessGram has its own icon in the Start Menu.

Final note: if you forget to send your scores to your desktop and attempt to reload the roster from your desktop PC, you will get this message: “You have unsent test scores. Are you sure you want to delete the scores in your Pocket PC? This will delete the scores you entered!
