 What do we stand for?  What do we believe is essential for success?  How do we do things?  How do we treat people (workers and customers)?

Regarding Human Nature and Learning We believe that: Learning has intrinsic value. Clear, realistic and challenging goals increase learning. Collaboration and cooperation enrich the learning environment. Resourceful, persistent work has value. Effective communication builds understanding. Improvement requires change. Challenge is an opportunity. Reflection and dialogue enhance growth and learning. Regarding Individuality We believe that: Each individual has equal, inherent worth. Each individual is responsible for his or her own actions. Each individual has a unique capacity for life- long learning. Good physical and mental health are important. All accomplishments build self-confidence which enhances learning. Honesty and integrity are essential to create trust. Trust is the foundation of positive relationships. Regarding Community We believe that: The learning environment is enhanced when a sense of community exists. A safe, supportive environment and sense of belonging foster human growth, development, and learning. Understanding, acceptance and respect for ourselves, others and the environment are essential. Respecting that students learn values primarily from the family, all members of the educational community have an obligation to encourage, maintain, model and communicate the highest ethical standards. Each individual's learning is enhanced by a direct connection to his/her community.

Our Philosophy Never settle for the best Ten things Google has found to be true 1. Focus on the user and all else will follow. 2. It's best to do one thing really, really well. 3. Fast is better than slow. 4. Democracy on the web works. 5. You don't need to be at your desk to need an answer. 6. You can make money without doing evil. 7. There's always more information out there. 8. The need for information crosses all borders. 9. You can be serious without a suit. 10. Great just isn't good enough.

1. Hire by committee. 2. Cater to their every need. 3. Pack them in. 4. Make coordination easy. 5. Eat your own dog food. 6. Encourage creativity. 7. Strive to reach consensus. 8. Don't be evil. 9. Data drive decisions. 10. Communicate effectively.

 A set of rules and guidelines for how you will treat each other as you work on this project  How will you interact?  How will you divide work?  How will you support each other?  Start each session reviewing your conduct policy.

 A product  A service  A store  A technology  A non-profit

Who is your target market? How big is your market? Where are they? Who is your competition? What makes your product different/better? What makes your product unique? What’s in it for the consumer? Is your return worth your effort?

 Withhold your judgement of ideas  Encourage wild and exaggerated ideas  Quantity counts at this stage, not quality  Build on the ideas others put forth  All ideas and people are equal

 A written description of your product or service  A sample product (model or picture)  An explanation of what makes this product unique and why people will buy it

 A short, succinct and inspiring statement of what the organization intends to do  Google: “To organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful”  Microsoft: “A PC in every home”  Nike: “To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world”

 One sentence description that captures your business goal

 Think about the talents of the people in your group. Who is suited best to the following tasks:  Production  Research  Marketing  Sales  Finance

 Assign roles and responsibilities to your group members.  Common corporate titles: CEO, CFO, CIO.

 With each of your product ideas, start to find out how viable the idea is. Generate a list of questions that you need answered:  Where can we sell?  Can we sell at Target?  Who do we talk to at Target?  What do we need to do to convince the person at Target?  What rules does Target have for us?

 Start by brainstorming a list of questions that you need answered.  Then, as this project continues, find answers. Keep a log of questions, answers, and who found out.
