Time Management Study Skills Self Efficacy

Time Management Importance of planning your time –Things can build up quickly Initial Time Management Sheet –How do you spend your time. Is what you are doing the best use of your time? –Fill this out for homework

Time Management School Work TM Sheet –Use this to help you to understand how you best work –Where? –Distractions? –With others, watching TV, listening to music? What helps you to work What hinders your work?

Studying (Do Right Away) –Take good notes during discussions, activities, etc. Each day we will have an objective, you should be thinking, “What do I need to know in order to respond to the objective?” PPT files are available on my website, or in print if you ask me. Don’t write everything I say down, just the points that are crucial. Ask if you don’t know!

Studying (Do Right Away) Keep your binder organized!! –Remember, we will be having notebook quizzes –Papers should not be falling out –Flow of papers Notes, activity sheets, etc.  Straight to the binder HW Sheets:  Into HW Binder  Do the HW  Hand in HW  HW comes back and goes into SS binder

Studying (Do Right Away) Take time to review at the end of the day –If you took notes, got a HW Sheet back or got a quiz back, look it over. Make sure you know the material Take time to review at the end of the week. –Look back on what you did this week and remind yourself of the information

Studying (Do Before a Test/Quiz) Create a schedule for studying. –You will get one with your first study guide only. If you want more, they are on my website or ask and I will give you one. Double check your organization

Studying (Do Before a Test/Quiz) Look at the study guide and make sure you have all the things you need. –If you don’t see Mr. F. Decide which strategy you are going to use to study –See the list I gave you. –You may need to try several before you find the one that works best! –Quizlet is excellent!

Studying (Do Before a Test/Quiz) Test Yourself (Or have someone test you) –Make a test for a friend and give it to them.

Self-Efficacy This refers to how good a judge you are of your own work. Use the Grading Sheet to keep track of how you are doing in my class. This will help you pinpoint where your strengths and weaknesses are.
