FRAMEWORK: EWL STRATEGIC PLAN Strategic Objective 1: Contribute to / Influence EU-level policies relating to equality between women and men 2.Strategic Objective 2: Effective alliances, networks and outreach 3.Strategic Objective 3: Strengthen the EWL Membership; develop and harvest the talents and capacities of the membership base and encourage networking among the members 4.Strategic Objective 4: Ensure best practices of governance based on feminist principles 5.Strategic Objective 5: An autonomous and sustainable EWL

GENERAL THEME FOR THE YEAR 2013 Given the challenges that we are all facing both politically and financially, proposal to have a general theme in 2013 related to “Moving Forward with Women’s Rights!” to fight the current backlash. This would also be the topic of the 2013 General Assembly conference

Strategic Objective 1: Influence EU-level policies relating to equality between women and men VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN Advocacy for a European Year and Strategy to end Violence against Women + monitoring of EC activities Special event with V Day – : 1 Billion rising Continue work on prostitution and trafficking (small grant from NoVo continued in 2013) Publish Barometer on sexual violence together with Observatory on VAW

Strategic Objective 1: Influence EU-level policies relating to equality between women and men VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN Adopt a revised position paper on women’s sexual health and rights, including lesbians’ rights Work at international level: UN Rapporteur, CoE Convention, UNSCR 1325, CSW (?) Support the work of the EWL Observatory on Violence

Strategic Objective 1: Influence EU-level policies relating to equality between women and men WOMEN IN DECISION-MAKING Monitor proposed European legislation on parity on Boards of Administration Start activities within the EWL 50/50 Campaign, especially in the framework of the European Year on Citizenship 2013 Lead the EWL project on mentoring for minority women and the European elections Participate in the European Network of Women in decision- making

Strategic Objective 1: Influence EU-level policies relating to equality between women and men GENDER EQUALITY POLICIES AND LEGISLATION Follow up on the adoption of the maternity directive, including paternity leave Monitors EC proposals on “carers‘ leave” and the pay gap Continue to work on the EU budget post 2014 Link with the Irish and Lithuanian EU Presidencies Link with the European Institute for Gender Equality and the Fundamental Rights Agency Follow-up on the reflexion and contacts about men and feminism

Strategic Objective 1: Influence EU-level policies relating to equality between women and men ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL POLICIES Have a Board seminar on feminist economics / beyond GDP Influence the EU 2020 Strategy: Annual growth survey National Reform Programmes Employment package Poverty target Follow up on funding for women’s rights

Strategic Objective 1: Influence EU-level policies relating to equality between women and men IMMIGRATION, INTEGRATION, ASYLUM Lead a project on women asylum seekers (depending on application for 3-years project) Continue to cooperate with European Network of Migrant women and Roma women’s organisations on integration issues

Strategic Objective 2: Effective alliances, networks and outreach Continuous links, input, consultations with European and international decision-makers and institutions Be part of the Coalition of NGOs for the European Year on Citizenship Work in coalitions concerning sexual rights, anti- discrimination and other topics as relevant Link with women’s organisations in North Africa and support them (depending on funding opportunities)

Strategic Objective 3: Strengthen the EWL Membership Provide briefings and lobbying tools for members Implement strategies to reach out to members at national level Produce one issue of European Women’s Voice on fighting the backlash

Strategic Objective 4: Ensure best practices of governance based on feminist principles Organise a General Assembly and Board meeting Adopt revised statutes and internal rules Start implementing revised statutes and internal rules External evaluation 2013

Strategic Objective 5: An autonomous and sustainable EWL Human resources and financial management Raise funds for necessary co- funding Support members in their fundraising efforts Recruit Friends of the EWL and continue work towards long term financial sustainability
