Overview of Today’s Call Introduce the Community Innovators Circle – How it works – How it fits within the overall Alumni Engagement Picture – How do you get involved?

What is the Community Innovator Circle? A group of like-minded alumni from across the country that want to spur community- based innovation to solve local pressing problems.

What does Public Allies mean by “Community Innovation?” The practice of using entrepreneurial principles to organize, create and manage a venture to affect social change. The practice of innovation that is rooted in, implemented by and/or sustained by community relationships and networks. We’re interested in that “magic middle” – where you can leverage the best of both fields.

Phase 1: Social Entrepreneurship Webinars July 2012 How is this idea new? How does it represent a change in the way we’re solving a problem? How will this change the community? How does this create a significantly different result? How will you engage those who will benefit from your innovation?... those who will support it? What’s the business plan for this innovation? How will it be sustained? How will you drive this from a values- based approach?

We’ll have an online workspace where you can further hone your blueprint.

Phase 2: The Fellowship September 2012 – January 2013 We select 8 Alumni to participate Community Innovator Fellow Gathering in September Connection to a Community Innovator Thought Partner Monthly Fellowship Calls from October to January 2012 Opportunity to win $5,000 to support your plan
