Objectives: 1. To describe Spanish exploration of the Americas and its effects on Native Americans, Africans, and Europeans. 2. To describe the pattern of conquest that the Spanish used to subdue Native American peoples. 3. To summarize the goals of Spanish explorers and settlers who pushed into what is now the United States and to understand why Native Americans resisted.

Standard Students analyze the significant events in the founding of the nation and its attempts to realize the philosophy of government described in the Declaration of Independence. Objective: Summarize the historical background of the Declaration of Independence and ideological origins of the American Revolution
