Prerequisites Common to Basic Credential Programs Prerequisites Common to Basic Credential Programs CSET/CBEST Examinations-take early (begin late in junior year) Certificate of Clearance – do 6-12 months in advance of program admission; longer if arrest or conviction record; valid for 5 years

Prerequisites Common to Basic Credential Programs GPA – 2.67 cumulative (all college coursework) or 2.75 last 60 units Dual application – apply to the university for post-graduate study AND apply to department one semester before intended enrollment Tuberculin clearance to be valid while enrolled in program (Health Services)

Overview of Multiple Subject Credential Program The program may be completed in either two or three semesters The program consists of a combination of field experiences, student teaching, and coursework

Timeline Senior Year – First Semester Download an informational brochure from our website at dential.php and carefully read the details on admission requirements. dential.php Attend a Multiple Subject group advising session. Work toward completion of prerequisite courses ED 451 and SPED 450/500.

Timeline Senior Year – First Semester Register to take the CSET/CBEST exams soon (passing scores on the CSU placement tests may be used in lieu of taking the CBEST exam). Stop by the Office of Student Services in (EBA 259) and pick up information about applying for a Certificate of Clearance. Work hard to complete your Liberal Studies requirements and maintain a strong GPA.

Timeline Senior Year – Second Semester Complete the prerequisite courses. Check our website for deadline dates and instructions for submitting your application. Gather the items needed to submit with the online credential program application. Submit an online credential program application found on our website.

Timeline Senior Year – Second Semester Apply for readmission to the university using the graduate application at Work hard to complete your Liberal Studies requirements and maintain a strong GPA.

Student Admission Requirements California Basic Educational Test (CBEST) Subject Matter Competency ◦ CSET: Multiple Subjects (all three subtests) or CSET: Single Subject (Math, English, Social Studies or Social Science only) ◦ Admission to Internship Program may require applicants to pass CSET: Multiple Subject. ◦ For ECSE, completion of an academic major closely allied with Early Childhood: Child Development, Speech and Language, Social Work, Psychology or Liberal Studies. If major is not considered to be closely allied to Early Childhood, you may complete Early Childhood coursework before being accepted into the ECSE program (see ECSE Advisor for more information)

Dual Credential Bilingual Multiple Subjects & Educational Specialist Teacher Preparation Program This dual credential teacher preparation program is designed for Bilingual individuals proficient in Spanish & English seeking a Bilingual credential & who are interested in obtaining an additional credential as an Education Specialist in Mild/Moderate disabilities.
