Eligibility Requirements Applicants must earn C’s or better in all A-G courses. 2.0 Minimum GPA “D” grades can be ‘validated ‘  for all courses in Mathematics (Area C), all courses in World Lang (Area E), and for all Chemistry courses (Area D2), if you received a grade of “D” in the first semester and a grade of “C” or higher in the second semester, you will receive two semesters of subject requirement credit.

Eligibility Index Your “eligibility index” score is a combination of your GPA and SAT Reading and Math Scores. (CSU’s don’t factor in the writing score). This score is used to determine your eligibility and is also used to rank applicants. The higher your E.I. the better your chances of getting in.

Eligibility Index Calculate your college-weighted GPA using grades earned in A-G courses during 10 th and 11 th grade only. The college weighted GPA is recorded on the bottom of your transcript (GPA x 800) + your SAT Total (reading & math) ACT Scores: (GPA x 200) + (10 x ACT Composite)* California residents must have a minimum index of 2900 using SAT scores or 694 using ACT scores.

Eligibility Index - California Residents An eligibility index score of 2900 guarantees you admission into any non- impacted CSU. As long as you have C’s or better in all A-G courses

CSU Eligibility – NOT impacted. Bakersfield Channel Islands Dominguez Hills East Bay Maritime Academy Monterey Stanislaus

CSU Eligibility – Impacted for Freshmen All other CSU campuses are impacted at the Freshman level. Most impacted campuses will accept from their ‘local area’ (tier 1 applicants Admissions eligibility requirements can be higher for out of area applicants.

Impacted Majors Major impaction means number of applications from fully eligible students to a designated major on a CSU campus during the initial filing period far exceeds the number of spaces available in that major. However, students can still be admitted to the campus in an alternate major, or they may eventually be admitted to the oversubscribed major if they meet the supplementary admission criteria. Nursing is impacted at all CSU campuses

CSU Eligibility – Impacted for Freshmen CSUS* - you are Tier 1 applicants

CSU Eligibility – Impacted in all programs Fullerton – E.I.= 3600 (w/ SAT scores – 866 w/ ACT) San Diego State – E.I.=4151 (avg GPA 3.76) San Jose State – E.I. 2900-4300 depends on major Cal Poly San Luis Obispo – Eligibility index depends on the pool of applicants but is likely over 4100. LONG Beach – Minimum Eligibility index – 3200, Avg. GPA = 3.6

After you apply Check your email Most of the colleges will only contact you via email You will have to set up a student account on their website to check the status of your application. Don’t forget your username & password.

Deadlines Failure to meet required deadlines is the primary reason acceptances are rescinded. Jan. 6 th = deadline to submit test scores (most schools accept Dec. scores) May 1 st – submit intent to register (tell them you’re coming) May 5 th – take the English Placement and/or Entry Level Math Exam June 30 th – Final Transcripts due

Additional Requirements All CSU’s will require students who do not meet English and/or Math readiness standards to enroll in “Early Success” courses during the summer prior to enrolling in college. College Ready = 500 on SAT Reading or Math, 22 on ACT Reading or math, Pass EAP, 3 or higher on AP English Many CSU’s require students to attend orientation in the summer.
