Presented by Jeff Finkel Yellow Cab GO Yellow Checker Shuttle Dallas, Texas Planning Ahead Developing Your Strategy for the Next Five Years Alternative Fuel Choices for Airport Ground Transportation Conference March 27-30, 2011

 All about driving ◦ Where ◦ How many miles ◦ What type of driving ◦ How many passengers ◦ Spend a lot of time idling  Using the right tool for the right job is efficient

 LESS idling – the hybrids essentially shut down when they are idling  LESS emissions – will produce less than two (2) existing internal-combustion engine cabs  LESS waste

 Reduce gasoline use  Reduce pollution (exhaust and noise)  Improve the quality of vehicles (newer model years)  Yellow Cab began the pilot program in 2007 with the 1 st hybrid, now up 55 Toyota Camry hybrids.

 Global warming ◦ Transportation is 2 nd only to building energy use as source of greenhouse gas emissions raising Earth’s temperature and changing climates ◦ Motor vehicles emit 3 major greenhouse gases  Carbon dioxide  Nitrous oxide  Methane ◦ Higher air toxicities

Fuel Type Annual Miles DrivenMPGGallons of Gas Gas Fuel80, ,000 gallons gas Hybrid80, ,353 gallons gas Total savings of gasoline 1,647 gallons gas CO 2 produced per gallon of gasolinex 20 pounds Total CO 2 NOT produced 32,940 pounds per gallons annually

 Front of line loading privileges at: ◦ DFW Airport ◦ LOVE Field Airport ◦ Taxi Stands  Metroplex is a non-attainable area

Purchased first Toyota Camry Hybrid in the fall of Toyota Camry meets the DFW Airport requirements of 109” wheelbase to be a full size vehicle Average cost $23,000-$25,000 each Operating for up to 3.5 years we have over 200,000 miles on these vehicles with no major repairs. Yellow Cab currently operates 55 Toyota Camry Hybrids. Of those 55, 33 have received or will receive funding. First 8 vehicles received $5,000 funding by the North Central Texas Council of Governments. Yellow Cab has received or has available TARP funding for up to 100 hybrids purchased. The TARP money is worth $2,000/vehicle. Yellow Cab has received or has available $3,000 Obama funding for up to 64 hybrids purchased. The TARP and Obama funds may be combined for a total of $5,000 for the first 64 vehicles and $2,000 on the remaining 36 vehicles.

Yellow Cab operates 65 CNG vehicles. Current model and one model year old are good candidates for conversion, with fewer than 20k miles. Cost to convert $12,000-$15,000 per vehicle. Yellow Cab received $5,000 funding by the North Central Texas Council of Governments for the first 35 vehicles purchased. Yellow Cab has been awarded funding of $5,000 from NTCOG. This funding was used for 35 of the 65 CNG vehicles operated by Yellow Cab. In 2010 there was a $4,000 tax credit for all CNG vehicles. There currently is no Federal financial assistance for 2011 for CNG Vehicles. CNG the new frontier?
