Introduction The Civil Rights Movement refers to a set of noted events and reform movements aimed at abolishing public and private acts of racial discrimination against African Americans between 1954 to 1968, particularly in the southern United States.

Quest (ions) What does the past have to do with you? Why should you know about the leaders of a movement you were not part of? In order to answer these questions, first you and your group will need to answer the following ones with the aid of the internet: –Who were the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement? –What is important to remember about them? –What events took place in their lives that impact our current life?

Process We will begin by dividing the class into 4 groups, where each group will have a specific leader to investigate. –Investigator #1Investigator #1 –Investigator #2Investigator #2 –Investigator #3Investigator #3 –Investigator #4Investigator #4 Each group will make use of the internet to gather background information on the leader they’ve been assigned.

Process As a group, you will investigate, express findings, and finally interpret in your own words the information, making sure that you’ve answered the questions. Once the questions have been answered, each group will make a Power Point presentation about the leader they investigated. At the end of the presentation, each group should analyze about the importance of the leader’s life in our current lives.
